.Theatre Works Presents Little Shop of Horrors at Lucie Stern Theatre

Buying plants for the holidays is a sweet gesture, but what happens if there’s a carnivore lurking among the succulents? That’s the basis of the hit 1982 off-Broadway musical Little Shop of Horrors, now on the Lucie Stern stage in Palo Alto. The long-standing classic—including a 1986 film featuring Rick Moranis—is adapted for this stage to focus on a floral shop in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Local renowned director Jeffrey Lo (Vietgone, A Doll’s House) uses the new setting to explore the cross-cultural community between marginalized peoples of color, making the story all the more heartfelt.
