Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic 1883 adventure novel about buried treasure and villainous pirates is given a modern twist in A.J. Allegra, James Bartelle and Alex Martinez Wallace’s adaptation, Treasure Island: A New Adventure. Their version follows young Jim Hawkins and his mother, Ruth, who runs an inn in Bristol, England. After finding a map for buried treasure, they set sail for Skull Island in the Caribbean on the Hispaniola ship, where they encounter a crew of female pirates and their treacherous one-legged leader and cook, Long John Silver. Directed by Katelyn Miller, this production features young actors aged 8 to 18 from the Los Altos Youth Theater. Performances go until March 22.
