.Wally Schalle’s Idiot Fish in San Jose

Most folks may think of the simplicity of “The Little Drummer Boy” when a percussion concert takes place during the holidays. This year, legendary Bay Area drummer Wally Schalle takes center stage and brings something more complex. Schalle, also a professor at CSU East Bay, has played under the name “Idiot Fish” since 2010. The music balances harmonious jazz rhythms alongside continued downbeats, allowing the longtime drummer to let loose with guitarist Hristo Vitchev and bassoonist Paul Hanson.
