Opera San José closes its 38th season with its first-ever musical: the beloved Bernstein/Sondheim classic. Director Crystal Manich has helmed works on stage, screen and music video productions—a perfect match for a piece with such an illustrious history across media. The principal star-crossed lovers are played by Teresa Castillo, whose credits include the world premiere of Reflections on a Mexican Garden at Carnegie Hall in 2018, and Noah Stewart, who has sung with opera companies and orchestras worldwide and whose studio album topped classical music charts in the UK. West Side Story runs until May 1, with a total of seven performances.
