Jazz piano aficionados are in for the treat of the summer this Wednesday with Max Haymer Trio’s appearance at the Tabard Theatre. The musician’s award-winning trio ranks among the most renowned ensembles on today’s jazz scene, adeptly deploying their classical training to create energetic takes on the Great American Songbook, Afro-Cuban hits, modern jazz and more. A virtuoso with an ear for Latin flare and lyrical energy, Max Haymer is, in All About Jazz’s estimation, “one of the finest pianists on the planet.”

Addie Mahmassani is a poet based in Santa Cruz. She holds a PhD in American Studies from Rutgers University-Newark and is currently an MFA student in creative writing at San Jose State University. There, she is a Teaching Associate as well as the lead poetry editor of Reed Magazine, California's oldest literary journal. She also surfs, sings and loves a part-sheepdog named Lou.
