It’s music journalist hack to compare bands to other bands. That said, New Zealand’s The Beths and Chicago’s Beach Bunny are co-headlining a summer tour. Whoever is old enough to remember the wave of indie rock in the 1990s, this show is like time traveling. Except for the fact The Beths and Beach Bunny aren’t cover bands, their original songs are quirky, poppy, rock, and serious fun. The Beths got a Rolling Stone “Best of” and they should. Beach Bunny’s grooves may go down dirtier and there’s no denying Lili Trifilio being a deep hook front person.
