Anthony Doerr Reads for CLA San Jose

Anthony Doerr started his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel All the Light We Cannot See after witnessing a stranger on the New York City subway complain about losing cell service. Early scenes in the best-selling book (soon to be a Netflix series) transport readers to 1940s Europe where two young characters forge an unlikely connection via radio as World War II erupts. The ability to translate life’s mundane details into magical prose is at the core of Doerr’s prolific oeuvre, which includes other favorites like Cloud Cuckoo Land. SJSU’s Center for Literary Arts presents this literary legend who “takes language beyond mortal limits” (Vanity Fair).
