French electronic group M83 just released a new album called Fantasy. And the videos for the record’s singles have been appropriately otherworldly, featuring alien creatures, foreign landscapes and a general David Lynchian vibe. But it’s really the only type of visuals that fit the mood of the music, which is highly emotive and strange as can be. The group’s interplay between synthesizers and guitars is a masterstroke in disguising one with the other. Its strength is in its seamless blend, and how the group can make the weirdest pulsating nearly unrecognizable noises feel like the most natural and emotional music ever created.
