Fusing Indian classical music through the lens of American jazz was something only Berkeley tenor saxophonist George Brooks could initiate and master. Thriving on collaboration, Brooks has explored the widest range of possibilities through the Stanford Jazz Festival and the exclusive Indian Jazz Journey. For several years, Brooks has partnered with vocalist Mahesh Kale, a legend in India. Through the interplay and structure of jazz it’s more than a combination of cultures, it’s a new sound that carries the mind into fresh landscapes.
