As the son of legendary mandolin player David Grisman, Sam Grisman sought to reinvigorate some classic tunes his father and friend Jerry Garcia crafted in the ’90s. As such, the Sam Grisman Project was born. With Sam on upright bass and a backing band of various instruments, the group combines old standards with fresh licks, creating a lovingly crafted homage to some of the best folk music around. Moreover, the Sam Grisman Project injects some of their own tunes into the mix, resulting in a delightful homespun sonic atmosphere.
