Guitarist William Johnston leads an eight-person ensemble (with lead guitar, bass, drums, two keyboard players and three vocalists) as they present new music and arrangements featured on Johnson’s upcoming album release. The so-called Extravagant Superband claims influences from Al Green and Steely Dan to Afro-Cuban musical traditions, with the expanded lineup including Alisha Williams from Ian Santillano’s band and Kira Hooks, a 2023 Jazz Aid Fund recipient.
