Self-described as “not your typical family band,” the Hogan Brothers are just that. Consisting of brothers Colin on electric piano, Julian on drums and Steve on bass, this trio brews a powerful punch with notes of jazz, funk, hip hop and Latin. Born and raised in the Bay Area and currently based out of Oakland, the brothers grew up in music and played in esteemed local programs like Berkeley High Jazz and the Young Musicians Program. This would lead them to travel the world and study under masters throughout Brazil, Cuba, Ghana and Indonesia. And this Thursday, they are treating their home area with a free show at the weekly Gordon Biersch Night Market.
