Banjo player Nora Brown and fiddler Stephanie Coleman found each other in 2017 in Brooklyn’s old-time scene. Six years later, they released their first EP as a duo, Lady of the Lake. They’ve shared stages around the world and on NPR’s Tiny Desk series. Fiddle and banjo alike can be known for their foot-stomping, hyperactive qualities, but both instruments are also capable of a haunting, almost mournful sound. This is where Brown and Coleman reside—with subdued, gorgeous harmonies laid on top.
