Jesse Wegman’s Kepler’s appearance sounds like the kind of bookstore event that could feel a lot livelier than the subject might suggest at first glance. The focus is The Lost Founder, his book about James Wilson, a major architect of American democracy whose name never entered the popular pantheon the way it probably should have. That gives the evening a strong angle: part history talk, part argument about how national memory gets shaped, and part case for why certain people vanish from the story.
