Save Ferris in Menlo Park

Taking their name from a subplot in the 1980s John Hughest film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, this Orange County ska-punk group received a Grammy nod (in the form of a showcase gig) before even inking a record deal. While their earliest recordings mined a ska sound, by the time of 1997’s aptly-titled Modified, they moved toward pop-punk. After a few years in the spotlight, Save Ferris took a break in 2003, but the band returned a decade later. Save Ferris has gone through at least four wholesale lineup changes. Today only singer Monique Powell remains from the pre-hiatus band.
