Strata’s return could have settled for a victory lap through the songs that put the Campbell band on early-2000s rock radio. Instead, April’s “Soar,” its first new single in five years, finds frontman Eric Victorino and company sounding heavier, tighter and far less interested in nostalgia. That matters, even if hearing “The Panic” or Punisher soundtrack standout “Piece by Piece” in a hometown-adjacent room will still scratch a very specific generational itch. Solely Veil, Cloud Collector and Antlr fill out a muscular local bill.
