For Blood Be Water, Oakland-based artist Esteban Raheem Abdul Raheem Samayoa’s first solo exhibit, he displays a collection of 50 charcoal drawings, airbrush paintings, oil pastels and ceramic works that feature themes and symbols from his Guatemalan Mexican roots, dogs, cars, vintage cartoons and his conversion to Islam. Samayoa has exhibited his works since 2020 in the Bay Area and other major cities, guest lectured at several California colleges and appeared in a 2024 online campaign for Cadillac. For the exhibit’s opening night, the museum hosts a market, live music and art activities.
