The five-piece soul/R&B band from Sacramento Cosmic Roots (sometimes billed as Cosmic Roots Music) debuted with a catchy single, “Summer Time (From LA to the Bay).” The band has been especially busy of late. Just this year, they’ve released a studio album (Elements) and a live set capturing the group onstage at Art Boutiki. As accomplished as the studio set is, Cosmic Roots is most truly in its element live onstage. Soulful slow jams, funky grooves, jazz textures and hip hop elements blend seamlessly into the group’s original material.
