Jimmy Reed and BB King inspired young guitarist Daniel Castro so much that by age 15, he had committed to a life playing the blues. Paying his dues in the clubs of South Central LA, he earned a reputation as a player’s player and fell in with members of the legendary Johnny Otis Show. By the mid-’90s, Castro settled in the Bay Area, launching the Daniel Castro Band. Initially playing blues classics, the group (which includes longtime bassist Johnny Yu and drummer David Perper) eventually shifted to Castro’s original material.
