Ghostly Labor in San Jose

Choreographer Vanessa Sanchez and her dance and music company, La Mezcla, create beautiful, dramatic dance pieces rooted in the Chicana, Latina and Indigenous traditions of social justice. Vanessa was the Dance/USA Artist Fellow and received the Isadora Duncan Dance Award for Outstanding Production for her show Pachuquismo. Raised here in San Jose, Vanessa returns with a new piece inspired by her family history. Ghostly Labor explores the history of labor in the US and Mexico borderlands with a vibrant fusion of tap, Zapateado, Son Jarocho and Afro-Caribbean movement. (LP)
