.How the Internet has Changed the Film Industry

In the past few decades, no technological advancement can be said to have has as large an impact on the earth as the invention of the Internet. The internet has affected everything about how we communicate, opening up opportunities which previously couldn’t be imagined. We now have the option of communicating with almost anyone in the world, so long as they also have an internet connection. This communication exists not just through words, but also through various types of media – through pictures, video and music. As a result, the way that we create media has also changed, and had a knock-on effect on the wider media industry – in particular the film industry. Not only has the way in which films are marketed and distributed changed, but also making films and breaking into the industry has drastically shifted.

Gone are the days where the only way to break into film was by arranging to meet and network with people face to face, paying dues and generally sucking up to people. Sure, that kind of careerism still plays a part, but filmmakers today and especially independent filmmakers now have many more options for creating and selling films.

For a start, with inexpensive digital technology becoming more and more accessible, it is much easier for aspiring filmmakers to make their film and get it seen via sites such as YouTube or Vimeo. All you need is a camera and some basic editing software. Of course, there is a risk that your film might look less professional than a big budget movie, but with the rise of indie films and the popularity of online film projects, audiences are likely to be much more forgiving of media on an obviously low budget.

As well as enabling filmmakers to get their films uploaded onto a platform for the general public to see, the internet has made it much easier to submit films and scripts to competitions, which in turn opens up further networking prospects which wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. With websites such as twitter and the propensity for good media to go viral, indie filmmakers have a much higher chance of having their work seen by industry professionals, which in turn can open doors to more opportunities.

As well as revitalising the film industry, the internet has also injected some much-needed variety into the world of media reviews. It is now much easier for audiences and aspiring writers to get their ideas published, and people from all over the world can offer their own unique perspective on the latest film fad. There are now loads of indie review websites < http://www.indiewire.com/ > available for wannabe journos to try and make their name and get their writing noticed.

The internet has of course created great opportunities for expansion in a number of different industries. For example, the bingo industry has benefited greatly from the internet, which allows smaller bingo networks and websites to make a name for themselves, whilst also allowing players a greater variety of choice. If you’re looking for the best bingo sites, for example, you can easily look up a review website or search for a Lucky Touch Bingo review in order to make sure that you’re getting the best deal.
