Jonah Melvon is a Bay Area-born R&B and socially conscious hip hop artist. His original music draws from old-school soul, jazz-flavored grooves, deep and futuristic funk, and hip hop rhythms, combining those elements to celebrate and reflect his Oakland roots. He started rhyming at age 13, turning pro a decade later with an approach that applied his meaningful word-smithing to melodic, tone-rooted music. Live performances and a 2018 EP Thinkin’ of You led to residencies in East Bay clubs. His 2019 RainWater Project spawned singles that couched his social commentary in classic R&B groove-inspired sounds.
