.Jonathan Franzen at Hammer Theatre Center

The Center for Literary Arts at SJSU opens its 2019-20 season with Santa Cruz-based author and National Book Award winner Jonathan Franzen. The event celebrates the launch of Reed Magazine: Issue 152, the university’s acclaimed literary journal, and will feature readings by several contributors before Franzen takes the stage. Franzen is the author of a number of novels, including The Corrections. He recently published an essay in The New Yorker arguing that climate change is inevitable and that we as a species must shift our focus from preventing it to grappling with its consequences. A $10 VIP reception follows the reading.
