This week, Grammy-award winning artist Macy Gray commands the stage for a two-night run of shows in Menlo Park. Known for her distinct voice—an ethereal mix of gravelly and smooth—the R&B vocalist landed a smash hit in 1999 with “I Try,” which has since been featured in films ranging from Alvin and the Chipmunks: the Squeakquel to Picture Perfect. In 2001, the song landed her a Grammy Best Female Pop Vocal Performance award. As an actress Ms. Gray has appeared in Training Day (2001), Domino (2005) and The Paperboy (2012).
