Mark Karan has spent decades occupying prime real estate in the extended Grateful Dead universe. Best known as the lead guitarist for Bob Weir’s RatDog, Karan has also played with The Other Ones, Phil Lesh & Friends and Planet Drum, bringing a melodic, improvisational approach to music that comfortably wanders between rock, blues, psychedelia and roots music. Mark Karan’s Budz gives the guitarist room to stretch those instincts even further, favoring the loose chemistry and musical conversation that make jam-oriented shows unpredictable by design.
