As part of their ongoing Local Sound Series, the Guild welcomes Bay Area’s Marty O’Reilly and RO Shapiro, two local masters in American music. Whether with the Old Soul Orchestra, the Marty O’Reilly Trio or solo, this self-taught musician plays a combination of blues, jazz and folk for a homegrown sound without all the hipster drivel. Born in Brooklyn (the figurative melting pot of the country), Raphael Odell Shapiro has American roots music in his blood. It’s one of the things that drove him to gig all over the country (including Alaska), residing in some key spots like Austin before settling in California.
