The Ritz is going to have the roof blown off when Nigerian guitarist Mdou Moctar takes the stage. Moctar radiates not only the warmest, soulful, happy vibe, but his band is like an extension of him. As a true international artist, his NPR Tiny Desk concert is a great start to get a sense of how deep the good feelings go. Moctar’s widespread popularity started throughout the Sahel in Africa through a lo-fi network of old mobile phones and low RAM memory cards. With 90K followers now on IG and a new acoustic album coming out, Tears of Injustice, this is a rare chance to see Moctar in a smaller spot and soak it up.
