A finance professional by day and comedian by night, Nimesh Patel was working his hottest set yet in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, when Chris Rock noticed him. The year was 2015, and Patel (the son of an immigrant father operating an oft-targeted New Jersey liquor store) was hired by the celebrity on the spot. Patel found himself flying to the West Coast to write for the 88th Academy Awards. By 2017, Patel was writing full-time for Saturday Night Live; by 2018, his work was nominated for an Emmy. Known for his prolific output, Patel has since self-released three stand-up specials with no signs of slowing down. (EY)
