Hark! What stench through yonder stage breaks? It is Something Rotten!, the modern Broadway musical sensation set in 1595 that takes a hilarious look into a past that’s looking into the future. It follows brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, two desperate playwrights longing for a hit but ever-overshadowed by a not-so-inconspicuous guy named “The Bard.” After their local fortune teller explains that the future is in musicals, the two attempt to write the world’s first song and dance production. This performance is extra special because it’s staged by the 9th to 12th graders in the Starting Arts Dream Team program. Something Rotten! runs through Sunday, with two shows on Saturday. (MW)
