The Taxpayers sound like someone gave a bunch of punks acoustic instruments and a porch on which to compose sing-alongs. Not that their stuff is light or fluffy; these catchy tunes deal with all the complexities of modern life, from birth to death, and all the messiness that comes in between. After taking a break for a couple of years, they’re back on the road with their pals Walter Mitty and His Makeshift Orchestra. Berkeley’s Street Eaters will kick things off when the tour visits Art Boutiki this week.
