Tina Seelig in Menlo Park

Emily Dickinson once said, “Luck is not chance—it’s toil. Fortune’s expensive smile is earned.” Famed author and Stanford University professor Tina Seelig would have to agree, as she writes in her new book, What I Wish I Knew About Luck. In it, she explains how luck is a combination of deliberate action and consistent efforts. She likens luck to the blowing wind, and in order to catch it, one must construct the sails of doing the internal work to set up for success, along with surrounding oneself with a good crew. Seelig is the author of 17 books, including What I Wish I Knew When I was 20 and Insight Out. She will be joined by Matt Abrahams, a lecturer at Stanford Graduate School of Business who is known as a sought-after keynote speaker outside of the classroom.
