Invention in Motion: A Celebration of Stop Motion Animation in San Jose

Depending on what frames per second the photographer is shooting at, it can take an astounding 60 hours just to film five minutes of animation. To honor this creative sacrifice of time, Invention In Motion was born. Over two days, the festival showcases everything from workshops on building puppets on a budget and background world-building to lectures with Q&A discussions with animators and directors. The festival culminates on Sunday with a screening of short stop-motion films before a showing of The Inventor, about the world and ideas of Leonardo da Vinci, mixing stop-motion with 2-D animation by Jim Capobianco (known for Disney/Pixar animated features like Ratatouille, Coco, The Lion King and more).
