Flamenco is most associated with its birthplace in Southern Spain, but the popular and influential dance in Central/South American culture also has a vibrant Persian subgenre using traditional Persian instruments and leaning into the Arab influence. Jondo Flamenco celebrates this east/west fusion with La Primavera 2025. Of course, there will be the usual flamenco guitar and violin, with the ghaychak, kamancheh and setar. Acclaimed Bay Area stand-up bassist Paul Sounder will also be on hand, and yes, of course, there will be dancers in dramatic dresses stomping and spinning to the hypnotic rhythms.
