While American audiences were introduced to Rick Springfield as an actor in 1981, when he portrayed Dr. Noah Drake on the soap opera General Hospital, his career as a musician had begun more than a decade earlier. But paired with exposure on the then-new MTV, the high visibility of his television role helped catapult the Australian rocker to double-platinum status with his 1981 album, Working Class Dog. During that decade, Springfield landed no less than seventeen singles on the Top 40 charts. He released his 29th album, Automatic, in 2023. Springfield headlines a nostalgia-packed ’80s lineup featuring John Waite, Wang Chung and Paul Young.
