George Benson was a child prodigy who began his professional career playing guitar in the ’60s at the age of 19 for the legendary Jack McDuff. However, Benson would branch out to make a huge name for himself in a solo career in R&B, jazz fusion and adult contemporary. He’s been nominated for an amazing 25 Grammy awards and won an even more astonishing 10 of them throughout his career. Those are numbers that are hard to beat. His hits include “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You,” “You Are the Love of My Life,” and “Breezin.’” Who doesn’t love that funky baseline and the be-boppin’ skatting female background vocals on “Give Me the Night?”
