Cop killer shocks Santa Cruz
Thousands of mourners journeyed from the coast to San Jose to honor Santa Cruz police officers Elizabeth Butler, 38, and Sgt. Loran “Butch” Baker, 51. A military veteran accused of sexual assault fatally shot the two in February, jolting the beach community, which had never had an officer die in the line of duty during its 150-year history. Everyone from Hells Angels and Bay Area cops to former U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta attended the service at HP Pavillion.
