This family-friendly festival channels the spirit of Mexican Independence Day through local performers and entrepreneurs. Activities include a Chile-eating competition with a grand prize courtesy of the San Jose Sharks, lucha libre matches, a mechanical bull, dance workshops, and craft tables ready for anyone to create their own paper flower crowns and sarapes. Of course, a walk through the Plaza rewards the senses with authentic pozole, mole, salsas, and tacos, along with refreshing micheladas. Performances of live mariachi and cumbia music by Sonora San Jose and Mariachi Tapatio can be enjoyed from the Plaza’s indoor-outdoor space.
