Though they began as a hardcore punk trio, Massachusetts-based Dinosaur Jr. soon evolved into an impressive and influential indie-rock band, one that drew from classic rock influences but delivered them in a style that never felt like homage or throwback. Initially featuring guitarist J Mascis, drummer Murph and bassist Lou Barlow, Dinosaur Jr. combined various textures from hard rock and pop to craft their unique sound, releasing seven well-regarded albums during their initial run (1984-97). Back together since 2004, the band’s latest, 2026’s There Near was met with near unanimous critical praise. Stef Chura opens.
