Art Alexakis made some remarkably catchy songs out of things most people spend therapy trying to untangle. Everclear’s “Santa Monica” and “Father of Mine” paired bruised storytelling with big choruses, giving ’90s alternative radio something to sing along with before the subject matter sank in. The Lucky 7 Tour adds a little democracy to the damage: fans in each city vote on seven songs for that night’s setlist. American Hi-Fi opens the Mountain Winery date, rounding out an evening of loud guitars and durable hooks. The scenery has improved considerably since the bedroom where these records first got played.
