Reincarnated set pieces from Santa Cruz are given a second life in Hammer Theatre for New Ballet’s fresh interpretation of the classical Giselle story. New Ballet director Dalia Rawson’s staging honors the Giselle legacy while featuring new costumes and a spooky ghost story with woods haunted by vengeful spirits. In these astronomical times, commissioning the hardwood set pieces for Rawson’s vision of Giselle was impossible. Enter Santa Cruz Ballet Artistic Director Diane Cypher, who generously supplied large wooden houses built by local carpenter Jake Lackey. The requisite European village charm is now complete. Performance also on Sunday.
Sat, May 16, 2pm & 7pm, $21-$122
