Glen Phillips led Toad the Wet Sprocket, aka the band with the ridiculous name (taken from a Monty Python skit making fun of ridiculous band names), from their indie, college rock origin to major-label stardom with a half dozen or so radio hits and world tours. The trio breaks up, re-unites and replaces drummers every now and then, while Phillips’ solo work and many collaborations and side projects have built a solid following. He’ll be on his own when he visits Menlo Park this week, and likely barefoot as well.
