.Radical Regeneration Exhibit at Museum of Quilts & Textiles

Years of lockdown, working from home and staring at the walls led many to some inspiring deep-pandemic yarn arts. This blurb-writer took up crocheting lopsided mini-dinosaurs, but the professional textile artists on display in Radical Regeneration reached for the political and the sublime. This group exhibition features pieces that reflect on the changes—spiritual and physical—born of the last two years, reflecting the theme of “renewal, repair and revitalization” as only art stitched and woven from the tiniest threads can.

Addie Mahmassani is a poet based in Santa Cruz. She holds a PhD in American Studies from Rutgers University-Newark and is currently an MFA student in creative writing at San Jose State University. There, she is a Teaching Associate as well as the lead poetry editor of Reed Magazine, California's oldest literary journal. She also surfs, sings and loves a part-sheepdog named Lou.
