For the past couple of years, Fremont-based act Red Joon has slowly been solidifying their place in the scene. They play a fusion of dream pop, shoegaze, and emo with dashes of punk sprinkled on top to create a sound born out of depression and desperation. But don’t get it twisted. Even though their music comes from a dark place, they capture the ears and hearts of listeners with their upbeat melodies, welcoming anyone who has ever been in a dark place, which is everyone. After playing years of live shows, Red Joon just released their debut, self-titled EP at the beginning of April.
