Thievery Corporation has always made dance music for people who like a little atmosphere with their groove. The draw is that blend of downtempo cool, dub pulse, and cosmopolitan crate-digger taste, where everything feels polished without going soft. Live, that usually means the mood gets bigger instead of blurrier, with the songs opening up into something warmer and more physical than the records’ smoked-glass elegance might suggest. Mountain Winery is a strong fit for that kind of set. This has the shape of one of those nights where the setting does part of the work before the band even starts.
