Sometimes all one needs is some classical music. This season the Palo Alto Philharmonic invites listeners to relax with an evening filled by Joseph Haydn’s (often called the Father of the String Quartet) “Sunrise” and Igor Stravinsky’s “L’Histoire du Soldat.” For the uninitiated, the latter is a piece that is read, played and danced about a man who trades his violin to the Devil for economic power. This particular evening’s narrator is John Whitecar although it is unknown to the extent he will act out the major parts or how long it will be as, traditionally, this piece alone is an hour-long show.
