Portland’s Girl Friend bill themselves as Sapphic Indie Rock and if that isn’t enough to convince the kids, they also promise indie sleaze (much better than that damned corporate sleaze always being pushed on everyone). A quick listen to their bandcamp page and these descriptions start to make sense. A vocalist who is able and willing to pull off lounge in a way that sounds heartfelt, sensual and a bit in-your-face fronts a capable bunch of musicians who manage to cover a lot of territory from exotica to power pop. They are a delight, truly.
