Austin, Texas continues to be a simmering BBQ sauce of raw talent, bringing forth the likes of the Willie Nelson family, Spoon, Butthole Surfers, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. The most decorated Austin musician, with almost 60 Austin Music Awards under his big buckle, is Bob Schneider. For twenty years, and 150 shows a year, Schneider is a blue-collar working musician. Admittedly, he is best known throughout the haunts of Austin, but Schneider’s reach is national with his bands Joe Rockhead, The Ugly Americans and The Scabs. The term legend is often bandied about, but Schneider is all that and more.
