Godsmack and Stone Temple Pilots represent two different branches of the massive rock boom that dominated American radio around the turn of the millennium. Godsmack built its reputation on muscular riffs, arena-sized hooks and Sully Erna’s unmistakable growl, while Stone Temple Pilots emerged from the ’90s alternative explosion with a catalog considerably stranger and more versatile than the grunge label suggested. Bluesy hard-rock powerhouse Dorothy is also on the bill. Shoreline will get an unapologetically loud three-band package spanning several generations of mainstream heavy music. Nostalgia may be part of the equation, but none of these bands were exactly built for quiet reflection.
