The founder and matriarch of Stanford University receives her own exhibit. Keepsakes and souvenirs like her elegant French gowns, the beauty cream container excavated from her Palo Alto mansion, and a colossal painting of her jewels reveal the enigmatic life and death of Jane Stanford. Curated by Cantor’s Associate Curator of European Art Patrick R. Crowley, this exhibition brings together various artifacts of her aesthetic and affective excesses in the Gilded Age. Many of these pieces are shown for the very first time—since her mysterious death by poison—and probably the last time. JANE! runs until May 2028.
