Smash Mouth still has the hometown-party pull, and this one has exactly the kind of built-in chaos fans want from a Friday night in San Jose. Yes, this is the band of “All Star,” which means the second that chorus lands, the room is probably gone. Steve Harwell retired in 2021 and died in 2023, but the band has continued with Zach Goode on vocals. With founding bassist Paul De Lisle still in the lineup, this reads less like some random reboot and more like the current version of the real thing: same huge hooks, same bright, goofy punch, same job description.
